Food and Natural Resources
Prerequisites: None
Grade: 9‐10 recommended
Credit: 1.25 Elective
This first course in the career field is an introduction to Agricultural and Environmental Systems. Students will be introduced to the scope of the Agricultural and Environmental Systems career field. They will examine principles of food science, natural resource management, animal science & management, plant & horticultural science, power technology, woodworking, welding and bioscience. Students will examine the FFA organization and Supervised Agricultural Experience programs. Throughout the course, students will develop communication, leadership and business skills essential to the agriculture industry.
Ag & Industrial Power I
Prerequisite: None
Grade: 9‐10 recommended
Credit: 1.25 Advanced Science
In this ÿirst course, students will learn the breadth of the Agricultural and Industrial Power Technology pathway. Students will learn the principles of power technology equipment systems which will include electronic and electrical systems, engines and fuels, hydraulic systems and power train components. Additionally, students will learn to safely operate and maintain machinery and equipment along with the principles of welding and metal fabrication.
Ag & Industrial Power II
Prerequisite: Ag Power I
Grade: 9‐12
Credit: 1.25 Advanced Science
Students will perform technical skills needed to maintain, diagnose and repair outdoor power equipment. Students will learn the theory of power and examine the aspects of repairing various engines, drive trains and ancillary systems that make up modern small engines, electrical and fuel systems. Throughout the course, site and personal safety procedures along with business principles will be emphasized. Students will be working in the shop with multiple pieces of outdoor power equipment. This course may be taken toward fulfillment of the 3rd credit of Science required for graduation.
Electrical Power
Prerequisites: None
Grade: 10‐12
Credit: 1.25 Advanced Science
Students will diagnose, test and repair the electronic and electrical components found in industrial power equipment. Students will engage in the introductory skills utilized in working with various wood and electrical construction materials. They will learn to use basic measuring tools, hand tools, and machines to construct basic projects. Students will learn the physical and mathematical principles of electricity and apply this knowledge in the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of electrical and electronic systems in industrial power equipment. Throughout the course, site and personal safety procedures along with business principles will be emphasized. Students will be working in the shop with multiple pieces of outdoor power equipment. This course may be taken toward fulfillment of the 3rd credit of Science required for graduation.
Power Sports
Prerequisite: Ag & Industrial Power I and/or Electrical Power; Proper personal protective equipment is required everyday and must be purchased separately

Industry Credentials (Optional): Master Service Technician Industry Credential (9 points)
Students will examine operating systems and perform maintenance practices for power sport off road vehicles and equipment. Students will learn engine theory, components, lubrication and cooling in order to diagnose service and repair. Topics also include the maintenance of electrical, fuel, air induction and exhaust systems of power engines. Power sport suspension, transmission, and braking systems are studied while students maintain site and personal safety and develop business principles throughout the course. This course may be taken toward fulfillment of the
3rd credit of Science required for graduation. Students who enroll in this course will also have the opportunity to earn an industry credential that can be used towards graduation or for job placement and advancement.
Agri-Business Management I
Prerequisite: None
Grade: 11‐12
Credit: 1.25 for class + up to 2.00 for work. *CTAG (College Credit)
Students will examine elements of business, identify organizational structures and apply management skills while developing business plans, financial reports and strategic goals for new ventures or existing businesses. Learners will use marketing concepts to evaluate the marketing environment and develop a marketing plan with marketing channels, product approaches, promotion and pricing strategies. Throughout the course, students will apply concepts of ethics and professionalism while implications of business regulations will be identified. Student will also be eligible to apply for College Credit for this class at any State Institution that offers an Agricultural Business program.
Agri-Business Management II
Prerequisite: Agri‐Business Management
Grade: 12
Credit: 1.25 for class and up to 2.00 for work
Learn how to run the day to day operations of a business. You will run all the business side of the FFA, while building relationships with local companies. You will be taking an active leadership role in FFA and learn vital communication skills. Be ready to run your own business with the skills taught in this class.
Advanced Power and Structural Systems
Prerequisite: None
Grade: Instructor Approval
Credit: 1.00
Students will engage in advanced industrial power and the building principles concepts and skills utilized in agricultural production agriculture animal and plant production systems. This class focuses on construction skills in both metal and wood materials. Students will build a variety of wood and metal projects. Additional topics include electrical theory and wiring, plumbing engineering design, and wiring, concrete , and masonry. Throughout the course, students will learn critical components of site and personal safety as well as communication and leadership skills. This is an advanced shop class with the opportunity to work on large scale hands-on projects.
Power/Structural Capstone
Prerequisite: Two Ag Science Classes and Instructor Approval
Grade: Instructor 10 -12
Credit: 1.00
This class is for upper level Ag students who have taken at least 2 Agricultural classes as a way for students to expand their learning. This class is more self‐directed in nature to allow for specialization for each student. To enroll in this class students must get instructor approval. Students will submit an application to AG Instructor to enroll.
