We recently took a field trip to the Ohio High School Landscape Olympics. Students from 3 different classes participated in this event to test their ability in hands on skills such as Patio Paver construction, equipment operation, irrigation, Low-Voltage Wiring, Plant Installation, and Plant ID. Also, the students competed in the first High School Turf Management competition. Classes that traveled to the event included Ag & Industrial Power, Greenhouse & Nursery Management, and Sports Turfgrass Science & Mangement.
Our students did well, with Marysville receiving the Bronze Medal in both Plant Install and Patio Paver Installation. In addition, 2 students were awarded scholarships of $750 each from the Ohio Nursery & Landscape Association.
