Students in the Animal Health class learn about how an animal body works. We begin the year by learning about the structure and signs of a healthy animal. This baseline knowledge makes it easier to recognize and evaluate the signs of an unhealthy animal.
Last week, students learned how to take the vitals of animals and identify what "normal" is for all kinds of species, both livestock and companion. Students learned that monitoring temperature, pulse and respiration rates allows for an accurate diagnosis of changes in an animal's physiology.
By working with and assessing animals, the students are able to apply the knowledge we discussed in class.
